 Baby Eye Health

Preventing vision loss in premature babies born worldwide, by improving the coverage of prevention and treatment

The Challenge

Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) affects premature babies, causing abnormal blood vessel growth in the retina, which can lead to blindness. It is the most common cause of blindness in middle-income countries and is becoming more frequent in low-income countries as neonatal care improves. Many low- and middle-income countries lack policies and services to detect and treat ROP.

Our Mission

Our goal is to establish and provide high-quality screening and treatment services for premature babies to prevent blindness in premature babies.

Our Work

What we do

We train professionals, support healthcare facilities, engage with policymakers, and do cutting-edge research.

We build strong partnerships between institutions in the Global South to build national and regional training and support networks.

Looking Ahead

  • Establishing telemedicine and AI screening

  • Collaborating with local health ministries to integrate screening and treatment into national health policies

  • Build groundbreaking research

  • Providing high-quality training to develop local expertise
